BBC Drama

From about 1945 until 1956 my brother Christopher and I were heavily involved in Bristol drama ,mostly through Hedley Goodall and St Brendan's College.

We both took part in Radio productions from Whiteladies Road with the BBC Drama Repertory Company , and many of the St Brendan's School plays which achieved national recognition : John Coe and Dennis Bushell were two of the critics from 'Evening Post'/ 'Evening World.'

I have clear memories of those Broadcasts with actors ranging from Lionel Jeffries , Marius Goring , Carleton Hobbs ,Johnny Morris , and a programme with William Golding about his 'Lord of the Flies'.

They were mostly 'live' rather than recorded , and Studio 1 doubled up for Radio and TV (' Look' ,the Nature programme with Peter Scott , came from there )

I would welcome any memories of those days , notably any of the newspaper inserts ,and especially any clues as to what happened to the extensive audio and cine film which Hedley Goodall made of the School productions.
Cheers,
Robin Hallett
