Brecknell Dolman Rogers

My sister (Julie) and I remember our Father working there in the late 50's/early 60's. To this day we can still remember him coming home from work smelling of oil and grease with small pieces of swarf (metal chippings)in his boots. As children we remember attending christmas parties held by Brecknell's for the employees families and we all had a great time, with a present for each child. Several of his working colleagues emigrated to Australia under the £10 per head scheme and they persuaded him to follow them out there. We returned to England after 2 years and our Dad eventually finished his working life at Strachan and Henshaws.

Re: Brecknell Dolman Rogers

HI there - I used to go as a child to the Christmas parties as a child. It must have been late 50's early 60's for me.

Didn't it used to be in the factory canteen - I can remember jelly, Punch and Judy. We always got a really good present. I went with my twin brother.
