Peter Gabbitass - The Clifton Poet

I am interested in any information, publications or even pictures of Peter Gabbitass, known locally in the 1800's as The Clifton Poet. For twenty years in all winds and weathers he had a stall on Clifton Downs, near the Observatory and he would stand and sell his poetry. AT night, and when the weather was bad he would wheel his stall into the cave there for shelter. The poetry was quite simplistic but his is an interesting story and the sheer determinatin of someone who would brave these extremities for little monetry reward is in itself a great achievement! If anyone has come across any of his manuscripts or any other information/photos please contact me!

Thank you.
