Kingswood Coursework - Please help!

Hi, Im writting a piece of A level coursework on whether or not people of Kingswood during the industrial rev. had to 'help themselves'. In other words, did they rely on charity/philanthropy or was there a strong element of self help?
Can anybody help me as it is extremely hard to find sources on local history that I can use! Thanks

Re: Kingswood Coursework - Please help!

A good start would be to find a book "The History of Kingswood Forest" by A. Braine or Ellacombe's History of Bitton. Both books are quite hard to find - your best bet is the local library.
