Your fist two LPs still get a spin at my place every so often Sharon. Thanks for all the great memories (I think I was 19 & 20 when they were released here). And yes like most guys of that time I adored you. I have a great photo from 1981/82 of my kitchen table with a full page promo spread of the Maybe album cover (from Juke or RAM mag) with my own LP copy next to it and and next to that the same match up with a bottle of El Toro Tequila. I guess you and the Tequila were the two big things that entertained me back then. I've given up the Tequila but I'll NEVER give up listening to your sweet music. Best of luck in this new decade.

Let me get this off my chest. As a teenager in the 80's I was totally in love with you - more so, your songs. There I said it.
You re-recorded "Losing You" for the Edge of Winter album, with a harder guitar edge to it. What prompted that? Why didn't you re-release that one as a single?
Cheers
John

Thanks for the wonderful music you have provided us over the years, and I imagine, the years to come. My wife and I have been fans since the first time we heard 'Asian Paradise', and we've never been disappointed with anything since. Enjoyed your performance on the Countdown Spectacular as well......again, thanks Sharon.

Was just sitting watching some home movie footage my mother has transferred to DVD recently and wonder if you remember doing the NZ pub circuit back in the early 70's? My grandfather was a friendly bloke and had you guys come and stay at his place in Greerton Tga and took a few funny movies of mainly the guy's and you have a very brief cameo(you were apparently a bit camera shy!) It's only about 5min of footage but it looks like everyone was enjoying themselves, still remember my mother telling me that you had stayed at my grandparents house and I would skite to everyone that would listen when you were on Ready to Roll like you had lived with them for months! Anyway was just thinking about that and having a chuckle, thought I would share! Hope you're keeping well

Well cant believe Im doing this but I have been prompted to do this after watching a 'Countdown' dvd & pulling out my 'foreign affairs' cd.
Have always loved your music ever since I heard 'dont say no to tommorrw' for telethon & words etc etc,( I was only about 10 or 11 years old then), I so wanted to be like Sharon O Neill, sing & look like you, later on I even brought tooth earings like you wore on 'foreign affairs' cd , as well all other cds that actually got misplaced/stolen over the years.
Great songs that I still love today, wonderful singer & its inspiring to see women/singers your age still going strong, aging like a fine wine !!

Sharon,

Like others, grew up to your music and have always been inspired by your sound, you're a stand alone talent.
Like some others, would love to see sheet music, still after all these years I listen to your music and feel inspired to go learn the piano!
Lyrics wise though, know them all off by heart.
Just know you still have as many fans now out here as you did before.

A credit you, well done!!

was just listening to a best of Dragon CD. Some material (esp from "Dreams of Ordinary Men" was co-written by Sharon. I would be interested to know if she was there at any time during the recording of that album and her opinion/thoughts on Todd Rundgren (producer and another of my all-time favourites). The liner notes on the Drag CD had him down as "strange". Any new material soon Sharon ????

I fell in love with your music in the early 80's
when I lived in New Zealand. Your music has been
rather hard to get here, but I have just order a copy of
your "best of" and look foward to hearing it. Wish you all the
luck in the future.

The "Danced In The Fire" CD consistently sells for high prices on eBay. Is there any chance of Sharon releasing it via her website so she gets a cut of the action?

back now with more considered comments :- the album "Words" holds special significance for me. At last a female artist of obvious integrity and with true lyrical flair...the soulful fade out of "Southern Blues", the drum sound on "I'll be Home" and "Bitter the Heart"...above it all the spot on vocals of Sharon. On to Foreign Affairs and more - "Kids in Our Town" plus "Losing You" (why the re-record ?), the style of "Maybe" and (a personal fav.) - "Silk or Stone" which I think remains a B-side of Physical Favours 12" - it paid to seek out these gems by Sharon. Every record was quality, every song well-thought out, beautifully played and sequenced into the creative whole of each album. I rate Sharon O'Neill in the top group of music artists I have seen and heard. It has been a rare pleasure to hear her and see her. And more to come I am sure. Thank you.

have already placed some comments on other people's posts...sufficient to say or ask..."moved just like a pawn before the queen"....always reminded me of "Molly" M. but I guess the lyrics were written some time before your move to Australia and the Countdown thing...still it fits in with those times in some ways....I have always rated your songs very highly...certainly in the same warm-up room as Jackson Browne and James Taylor but perhaps with more humour and obvious rock. Love your work ! Will write more when I think of a comment of substance to cover all I want to say...dave X

Hi Sharon, I saw Tony (who's looking a bit more portly!) and Paul Young at Fairfield RSL in Oct 08. I thought the back up singers were good n looked pretty foxy. IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN IT WAS YOU believe me I would have been knocking Tony & Paul over for your autograph - ah well never mind - next time - I'm sure if you'd publicised the fact YOU were backing them up you wldve had a huge NZ contingent there - all the best great show - Let us know next time - take care Viv Malcolm

Hi Sharon. Have loved your music ever since I was little. It creates part of the soundtrack to my life growing up in the 80's.
Who was the Model in the video clip MAXINE? Weird question, I know, but I'm trying to paint her & wanted some more pictures of her....Kind Regards.
