If you investigate with a video camera that has night shot, taking the light bulb out of a socket and replacing it with a black light will totally light up the room, but you are still in the dark. This doesn't work for flourescent black lights.

I never heard of that. I am still using a camcorder without night shot. I had to borrow my stepson's on my last trip to Lemp Mansion. Oh, I posted a story about one night I stayed there. What happens, and this will sound dumb, if you replace a regular camcorder bulb with a black light, or is that impossible?
I have no idea how to change a light bulb on the camcorder, I was talking about a regular light bulb. But, you know, I just might have to find out.

I did see an example of this. There were several photos taken with Sony with Niteshot and the one where they light was replaced with the black light did have a better picture. I thought it would help me with my camcorder with no nite vision capability, but guess not. Have to invest in a new camera!
