Winter is really here, some of us have snow and some cold weather. It is hard to do outside work when snow, sleet and wind chill are a big part of the day.
What do you do when you have workers on the payroll?
The worst case is layoff...but it is the most common. It tells the employee to look for a more reliable job, one that provides income year-round. If people know that a lay-off is coming, some may suddenly remember an old injury and pay a visit to the worker's comp board.
Unless you emplolyees like snow fishing, layoffs this time of year (or really, anytime) lower morale and upset the work force.
So what are some of the things you can do to avoid layoffs?
Clean the shop, paint everything that is nailed down and wash the windows.
Square up your cutoffs, go throught the glass that hasn't been picked up for a year, make stock 8x 10's and 9 x 11's for picture frames.
What else do you do? Help the rest of us!
I will put some additional ideas on my blog page as well.
What do you do in slow times to keep your people busy?
