We're building our first derby car. I've read all the threads about polishing, lube, deburring nails, etc. What about the raised letters and little teeth on the outside of the wheels. Does this rub the track walls. Can I take these raised features off and polish the edges of the wheel and then lube the edge of the wheel so if it touches the track wall, it's smooth and lubed?
don't bother, the outside of the wheel doesn't touch anything but the inside of the nail head. The inside of the wheel does touch the raised track ridge and this side can be rubbed smooth in graphite.
