Re: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida?

Nancy,

Can't say that I've heard TDA cover Iron Butterfly before. Maybe back in the early SF days. They did some funky things then, like the Perry Mason theme song.

Although In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida does seem like prime Paul Rodgers pardoy material. It has that great bass/guitar riff which is a natural for the accordion. And the organ solo break at the end would sound great with synthesized overlapping accordions wailing away. Just need some polka-fied lyrics to go with it.

Remember the classic Simpsons episode where Bart swapped the church music with: "In The Garden Of Eden" by "I Ron Butterfly?"

Reverend Lovejoy: "Wait a minute... this sounds like Rock and/or Roll!"

Re: Re: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida?

Thanks for the reply, Bill. And so my quest continues...ah, well. I know I heard it somewhere...ever see the Drew Carey episodes with his band with Joe Walsh? Also classic, but no parodies. I keep thinking that I might have heard it on WKLH, when they had some guy or band that played rock classics on the accordion. Maybe I'll try that avenue next.

As Bart sez, I won't have a cow, man! But I sure would like to find it.

Re: Re: Re: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida?

Bill's right about TDA never venturing into Iron Butterfly territory. But a quick Google search reveals that many accordion players and squeezebox-toting bands have played that tune that I can't be sure I can spell correctly.

Among them: Our pals in Brave Combo, Accordion Guy in the 21st Century ... and maybe even the great Turkish sexy madman, Mahir.

Let the squeezebox rock on ...

Nancy,

After some digging, I did find that Brave Combo covered In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida as part of a melody with another song. It can be found on thier album "No Sad Faces" (circa 1984) which is probably out of print. But you could try contacting the band through their website: http://www.brave.com/bo/

It might be available as an mp3 download someplace on the web that the band can point you to. Or you can try searching the used music outlets online. Someone on eBay might even have it.

Good luck!
