St George area of Bristol

Hello,

I work for an ancestral research company, and am currently researching a family that lived in Bristol at the turn of the last century.

I was wondering if you could help me in my search to find out some information about the Redfield and St George area of Bristol (where they lived during the late Victorian/Edwardian period). What I really want to discover is the socio-economic side of life in that area at the time, i.e. was it a largely middle class area, what the housing was like, main areas of employment, leisure time, etc.

Would you have any information (just a couple of paragraphs/brief description would suffice), or photographs that you could sent me relating to the area?

With thanks,

Re: St George area of Bristol

There is a book, "St George, Redfield and Whitehall (Archive Photographs: Images of England)" which is quite informative and with many very interesting photos from the early part of the 20th Century
