Civil Defense during the Bristol Blitz

Hello,

I just found your website and thought that I would ask for some help. My grandfather, Henry (Harry) J. Croker, was quite involved with Civil Defense during the Bristol Blitz. My Mum and Dad immigrated to the United States back in 1965; I am a doctoral student in history at Duke University in North Carolina. We know that my grandfather was interviewed for a documentary on the blitz in the 1970’s (we think mid to late 70’s); we actually watched the film in Bristol one afternoon during a visit shortly after Grandpa was interviewed, and he appeared in several places in the film. He was walking down a street in Bristol recounting the damage and his role in the aftermath of bombing raids. It is possible that the film was done through BBC Bristol, but we are not sure. Our family would so appreciate any information that you might have concerning this documentary; it is the only moving picture of Grandpa that we know to exist.

Thank you,

Edwin Redman
