Re: Honky-Tonk Tinfoil

Which analogy or "pairing" is Hank, Jr. referring to here, Dale, and why was it "ludicrous"? As for his claim that his opinions are "often misunderstood", there's not a whole lot to misunderstand about his comparing Obama to Hitler--either they're alike or they're not-- nor about his declaring Obama a "Muslim" despite Obama having been consistently and visibly Christian for many years, and then saying he hates him. Where are the Dixie Chicks, you ask? Don't have a clue, but judging from their open anti-Bush sentiments awhile back, including those on the only album of theirs I ever bought, wherever they are they're probably being as opinionated and up-front as ever. If they're not on tour and don't specifically call a press conference to discuss their current political opinions, however, as many celebrities do not, we aren't likely to know where they are or what they're saying. All I gotta say is, let's all hope to high heaven or Holy Hera they don't have to put out an anti-Romney album in a year or two!!

Williams Jr. says, "Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme – but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me - how ludicrous that pairing was."

He continues, "They’re polar opposites and it made no sense. They don’t see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the President.”

Williams Jr. adds, "Every time the media brings up the tea party it’s painted as racist and extremists – but there’s never a backlash – no outrage to those comparisons… Working class people are hurting – and it doesn’t seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job – it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change.”

Where's the Dixie Chicks?

Re: Honky-Tonk Tinfoil

Bush duped me on many many things.
BUT
Bush didn't kill the surplus, he wounded it...
Obama came in it sure isn't getting back up.
Obama didn't get the worst economy pass off in history, Reagan did and by this time in his first term the economy was back in stride.........

The Hank quote was just a copy & paste.

Just like Harry M.Reid, people can voice opinion say a bunch of crap and appologize later.

According to a small article on the front page of today's *Des Moines Sunday Register* Metro section, Hank Williams, Jr. engaged in an anti-Obama "tirade" (the headline description) and "screed" (the opening sentence one) at his Iowa State Fair concert here Friday night. After performing the song "We Don't Apologize for America" before an enthusiastic paying audience of several thousand, and declaring himself their mouthpiece, he is quoted as saying: "We've got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S., and we hate him!" Groan. This is the guy (or one of 'em) who has likened Obama to Hitler, getting his theme song dropped last year after 22 years by ESPN's "Monday Night Football". Break out the tinfoil toppers again, folks! And whaddiya wanna bet this guy considers himself a "Christian"? If so, he's obviously the type who slavishly and self-righteously worships the person or figure of Jesus, and is utterly intolerant of those who don't, or those who worship or follow him differently, as he conveniently picks and chooses from among the teachings traditionally attributed to Jesus, ignoring or discarding those he doesn't feel moved to like or agree with. So what else is new under the sun, sigh! A complete review of Williams' concert, a few pages into the same *Register* section, refers to his "political jabs", but I think the afore-cited little article's assessments are even more apt. This pathetically self-centered, simplistic, and unintelligent rant would garner a bigtime LOL from Yours Truly if it weren't so goldurned hateful and scary. Where on earth or in outer space does he get the insane idea that Obama "hates farmers", for one thing?! Hank, Jr.'s narrow version of America is the only "real" or "right" one, he makes plain. I say it's merely an infantile, narcissistic projection of himself, however, just as his "God" is likely to be. HO-hum. Well, Hank, I don't apologize for America, either. That's because it's really alot bigger and untidier, yet far grander and much more diverse, than you will probably ever be able to discern.

Very well said, Laurie!
