Didn't know this - thanks Laurie! Always liked Hendrix' version of it, but now I can enjoy the official version a bit more too, knowing its origin. Cheers! 
Cheers & skaal, B-bo! :-) Yes, the true origin of the "Star- Spangled" melody is one of my fave little-known facts. Not even many Americans seem to know it! Not sure if Hendrix did, but he obviously upgraded the song to an acid anthem, anyway... leaving in plenty of psychedelic rocket & bomb sound effects, per the US lyrics! ;-)
