Albatrosssss!, Hillarious. Humour !,cant see enough of the pythons. I have the same crasy humour . Hard to understand for people i am with sometimes.
I've adored Python since the '70s, and they are right up there with the hallowed Marx Brothers in comedic brilliance, in my estimation. Their humour (it seems fitting to give it the British spelling) was no less irreverent and much more complex. I'm always quoting them or citing their sketches, including the "Bruce" one just a couple days ago in another thread, and the one about an alien blancmange at Wimbledon and people suddenly turning into Scotsmen, my all-time fave, just the other day, somewhere or other on the board. Other faves are the semiphore version of *Wuthering Heights*, the Vikings singing robustly about Spam, John Cleese as Beethoven trying to compose the 5th Symphony while his "Mrs" (Graham Chapman) is hoovering/vacuuming the carpet and asking inanely what kind of sandwich spread he'd like, and olden-day highwayman "Dennis Moore" sticking people up for their lupins or their lives. Giggle. And the Cheese Shop sketch, and the Dead Parrot sketch, and the "Scott of the Antarctic" movie sketch, and the WWI pilot banter sketch, and the lethal joke sketch, and the Hell's Grannies sketch, and the Upper-Class Twit of the Year sketch...etc., etc., not to mention their hilarious flicks, especially "...Holy Grail". I love it all!!! :-)
Aw, not stupid at all, B-meister! I thought it was cute! :-)
"Instead of the share code, use the embedded code from youtube." Thanks DLM, I've been trying that but when I go to preview or post there's no video. I used to be able to embed videos fine, but for some reason I'm running into problems now.
Lynn, there should be 4 little checkboxes below the textbox that is shown after you click "Share" and then "Embed". Make sure the bottom one, "Use old embed code", is checked. Then just copy the code shown in the textbox and try - it should work.
Oh! I was wondering about what to check, thanks!
A lot of Monty Python fans here
I didn't know George Harrison was a fan. It was fun to watch the Rutles Borje! Love it! Now I feel like having a Monty Python night and watch a bunch of their material. DLM I used to watch them every Sunday night on PBS too. I also loved their movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian. Remember the attack Rabbit scene, and the knight in the forest. I've got to watch those movies again!
Pieter your sense of humor is awesome! You had me laughing so much in Budapest when you put voices to the people setting up on stage-- very Monty Pythonesque
Laurie they are brilliant aren't they! You've got me wanting to watch the Marx Brothers. I love comedy so much.
OK-- I'm going to try and embed a vid.
George and the Python gang were really good friends and he actually funded and co-produced "Life of Brian", when EMI withdrew their support for it because they thought a film that made fun of religion would end in an economic disaster.
Later on, the Pythons performed in their usual sophisticated way at the George Harrison memorial concert, with the following hilarious tribute to their old friend:
This reminds me of the RHPS
I had such a great time with this movie back in the years in Munich - West Germany at that time...
There was (IS) a movie house there were they have been continuously playing this cult movie and they are still playing in Now,..Wow, ten, twenty, thirty, forty (?) years after...
Check for your self here are a few pictures of the movie house and if you wanna go for the show it's at 23:05

Yes, Lynn, beware the Killer Rabbit! Tee you-know-what. "That rabbit's dynamite!", LOL. ;-) So many good scenes and lines..."'Then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being not in My sight, shall snuff it.'" "It's only a flesh wound!" "She turned me into a newt!...I got better." "If I was to go around sayin' some moistened b--- lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!" "I am a shrubber. I am Roger the Shrubber." "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!" "What is your name? What is your quest? What is the wingspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?" "'He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways, brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin'", etc. etc, and many goodly guffaws. A truly inspired and completely peerless comedic masterpiece! :-)

Fun Laurie! Here's some more:
King Arthur: Old woman.
Dennis: Man.
King Arthur: Man, sorry. What knight lives in that castle over there?
Dennis: I'm 37.
King Arthur: What?
Dennis: I'm 37. I'm not old.
King Arthur: Well I can't just call you "man".
Dennis: Well you could say "Dennis".
King Arthur: I didn't know you were called Dennis.
Dennis: Well you didn't bother to find out did you?
King Arthur: I did say sorry about the "old woman", but from behind you looked...
Dennis: What I object to is you automatically treat me like an inferior.
King Arthur: Well I am king.
Dennis: Oh, king eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society
Here's how I first encountered "Monty Python and the Holy Grail": Imagine a bunch of guys in the mid 70's, "slightly" drunk after a good bar round, stumbling into a small cinema without knowing what film was to be shown. 15 seconds after it started, they fall out of their seats from laughing so much they can hardly breathe and so it continues through-out the entire film. Luckily, everyone else is laughing just as much, so no one gets thrown out.
I probably only saw half of the film that time - the rest of it I spent on the floor, wiping tears of laughter out of my eyes. A masterpiece, in my humble opinion. One of the funniest films ever made, with both hilarious dialogs and what should be one of film history's best end scenes.
Sounds like a great memory and a lot of fun! We watched A Fish Called Wanda the other night because we couldn't access MPandTHG, and it's also hilarious, but I've since found out you can do an instant download from Amazon. I'd really love to watch it again soon:)
Ah yes, one can never get enough of "A Fish Called Wanda". Something that was almost as funny as the film itself was that Swedish film censorship restricted it to age 15+ over here, due to the "torture" scene where Kevin Kline stuffs a couple of french fries into Michael Palin's nostrils. Sex and blood, war and killing is ok, but beware of those horrifying french fries..
