Thanks for joining in the conversation!
DLM: Dude - you really expect us to believe that you've got photos of these guys?
Don: 'Colin'?
Dave: And 'Karl'?
Glenn: Alvin's friends from over fifty years ago ... that he used to practise with?
Les: Supposedly from that school photo you told us to Google ... 'Margaret Glen-Bott, March 1962'.
Reg: Yes. Although I have been experiencing a few technical difficulties. This isn't easy stuff, you know.
John: Houston, we have a problem ...
Don: ... yeah - Bobby Brown wants to marry your daughter!
All US males: Ho ho, ha ha ... etc.
Reg: But now I'm ready. OK. Move around a bit so that everyone can see an Internet-enabled device.
There are some changes of seats. Robin and Lynn, however, stay where they are, as Robin shares Lynn's iPad.
Robin: Oh, I love it when Reg takes control. I think I'd do anything he asked.
Lynn: Anything?
She cups her left hand, and then whispers into Robin's left ear.
Lynn: Would you (whisper, whisper)?
Robin: Yes. I would.
Lynn: Robin! Is that even legal in Hawaii??
Robin: I could care less.
Both: Ha ha, giggle ... etc.
Reg: Er, is everyone paying attention? Right. Please follow these instructions exactly. First, Google this: 'richcarman's Photostream'.
The passengers do so.
Reg: OK. Click on that. Or touch it. Good. When the site loads, then click/touch 'Sets'. Got it?
All: Done ... keep going ... so far, so good ... etc.
Reg: Next - when the various sets have loaded, click/touch the one named '6 Oct 2010 Peachland'. OK. Do that now.
They do it.
Reg: You'll see there are quite a few photos there. Karl is in several of them. He's the silver-haired chap, with shades and a black top.
Some passengers: Oh my ... amazing ... fantastic ... omg! ... etc.
DLM: Hey bub ... ain't no way that don't look nothing like nowhere like no Nottingham to nobody. Or no-one. Not.
Les: Yeah. What DLM said. Possibly.
Dave: Just some random mid-sixtyish guy picked up from the internet.
Don: You'll be telling us next he still plays the piano!
Dave, Don, DLM and Les: Chortle, guffaw ... etc.
Reg: Funny you should mention that, Don ...
The bus quietens.
Reg: ... now have a look at the set named '10 Oct 2010 Mel'.
They do so.
Reg: Three photos should be of particular interest.
All: Incredible ... stunning ... phenomenal ... etc.
Toni: And Reg - I've just noticed something.
Reg: Go on.
Toni: In the first set of photos - the outdoor ones - that isn't just any old black top that he's wearing ... it's an official Nottingham Forest soccer club top. You can see the club's 'tree logo' on his chest!
The bus is absolutely silent.
Reg: So, what do you think? 54 or 57 ...?
I wonder if he ever says:"I used to play with Alvin Lee!"
What's next! Guess what, after Mel's Thanksgiving Party, bet we're gonna get Mel's Christmas Party (or New Year's Eve)...but where is Alvin?
28 days till SOTRTF
How on earth could you find this, Reg? Fantastic job! Any chance of finding Colin, the tea chest bass player?
PS, the world want to know what Lynn whispered in Robin's ear..
But Borje - is he number 54 or number 57, in your opinion?
And yes - Colin has been found. Stay tuned. We may be able to get the 'band' back together.
Since we're still in 1959, this is a 1959 Gibson
Reg, both sources says he is Karl with a K, but especially his eyes and eyebrows makes me think he is #57, listed as Carl with a C. Possibly a mixup on the school photo because I notice some pupils aren't named at all, so names have been added afterwards. Could be that Carl actually should be Karl..
Hello Borje,
Thanks for staying interested in this. It's maybe gone on too long to keep other people interested,, so Reg will bring it to an end in the next couple of days.
There's definitely only going to be one of them with that name, and the correct spelling is with a 'K'. So that points to 54 ... but it could be 57, with a slightly wrong spelling. However, there is a man who can find out for sure.
His name is 'Reg'.
Hmm. Okay. Nice pics of some guys with spiffy clothes playing music...but when do we get to see the whole band? (Love the little doggie in the first set of pics, by the way).
But oh, Reg, this Colin and Carl/Larl thing have me so confused. Were they part of Vince Marshall and the Square Caps? (And who was Vince Marshall anyway?) What about the Jailbreakers? Didn't Alvin supposedly play his first "professional" gig with them when he was 13? Am I getting ahead of the story?
And what do you mean people have lost interest? I'm people (well, a person anyway) and I haven't.
I'm still interested, but keep in mind introverts don't talk much...
Call me an 'interested observer' as opposed to 'contributing participant'.....yes, interested observer.......or how about 'appreciative consumer'.
Either way I'm still on the bus, forearms on the grab rail of the seat in front, chin in turn resting on forearms, agog at the depth of research, and very entertaining way the story is structured.
Carry on Sapworthy, good show!
Heigh-ho, Regbo! Any chanct of losin' the antiquated innuendo?? It's gettin' so antediluvian, it's springin' a leak and the pairs of pterodactyls & orangutans & such are plottin' mutiny even before the mythic Ark's been built! :-)
I think Reg is more anti-histamine/pro-deluvian if anything.
I'm enjoying the ride Reg...thanks.
Tee sorta hee, Dennis. ;-) Not sayin' *Reg* is antediluvian. (Now that *would* be a feat, even for him, ha.) Just his ancient innuendo. Reggie my lad, we already get that you're masterful and of great prowess, but possibly sorely "in need" of extracurricular excitement (or at least deserving of a jolly good razz). There are other ways of titillating and being titillated that won't compromise your august position as tragical mystery tour guide, y'know. Please give them a try. :-)
"It's maybe gone on too long to keep other people interested,, so Reg will bring it to an end in the next couple of days.", from Reg.
It hasn't gone on too long at all! I'm starting to get caught up in the whirlwind of preparing for a new school year, but have been reading all about our bus travels!
What the heck did I whisper into Robin's ear anyway?
Reginaldo, old bean, I don't think the tour has gone on *long enough*, quite frankly! No need to wrap it up soon unless you really want to. I don't think anybody lost interest...some people are more likely to reply if there's general party banter going on, like at the outset, but I'll bet everybody's still reading and will be clamoring for another event as soon as this one's done! Hey, I'll even quit razzin' ya so semi-waspishly... I think. Chacun a son gout, and whatnot. Carry on and party on, noble dudemeister! Whooa!! A most excellent adventure! ;-)
