Re: Thanks Mitt, I'm now officially interested in the Olympics
WILLARD??? How did I miss that?? The name has never been the same in some peoples' minds since that unfortunate '70s rodent horror movie about an evil, possessed (or whatever the 'h' was wrong with it) rat. And here I've been wondering what "Mitt" is short for! But not wondering too hard. I really can't bear to think of the guy at all. I can only hope my little banishing spell works in time! Heh heh heh.

...and Willard Mitt Romney reportedly was in charge of the olympic committee when (actively...he had not retroactively retired from that) 10,000 olympic torch bearers uniforms-paid for by the olympic committee- were made in Burma/Myramar.
The military junta running the country were not very nice people (forced labor camps, etc.)
The olympic committee denied it was made in Myramar until it was pointed out to them it was the same place as Burma (and that was on the clothing label)...just a different name. They then said, well everyone else is doing it...except some clothing manufacturers listed by them as "everyone else"...wasn't doing it.
2002 our US uniforms were made by the Canadian Roots clothing company.
If I were a reporter I like to ask our to see the labels on our indignant politicians, suits, shirts, underwear, socks, etc...or anyone else so righteously upset.
Bad PR for Ralph Lauren...tho US citizens pay nothing for our olympic atheletes...but beggars can be choosers too. Some genius with RL should have forseen something short of "thanks Ralph" for the free Chinese made uniforms.
In fairness, Willard was only repeating what he'd read in the UK papers....not popular for a foreigner to say tho. He'll not repeat that rare instance of what he really thinks.

Mitten? Else, "Mitt" is the swedish word for "mine", like in "you shall obey me, this country is mine". Time to call in James Pond and his new cool mate, Queen E..

Willard Mitten Romney...that kinda has a ring to it... not. Especially not at an inauguration ceremony in January 2013, cringe, if we all survive December 21, 2012! ;-) And yeah, B, I know that "mitt" means "my" or "mine" for a neuter noun in Swedish, instead of "min" for the rest. I have a Swedish ex, don't forget. Even if I didn't, I could understand a lot of Swedish from knowing Danish. And don't say a word about the funny "r"s paa dansk, OK? I've heard it all before, believe me! ;-)
