The Magical Hystery Tour - chapter 23.

Reg: ... John Frusciante and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers ...

Graeme: Och, put a sock in it ...

Reg: ... The Allmans throwing Dicky Betts out, because of attitude problems ... Blur asking Graham Coxon to leave because of his bad attitude ...

Don: Will it ever end?

Reg: ... Joe Perry and Aerosmith ...

Alan: Aye, ye notice he's got nae Scottish examples ...

Reg: ... Stuart Adamson and Big Country ...

Alan: Oh aye ... forgot that one ...

Toni is desperate to change the subject.

Toni: Er Reg, how would you define 'an artist'?

Reg: A bloke who paints stuff.

Sometimes the simple explanations are the best. Meanwhile, Les has been frantically trying to get Reg's attention.

Les: Reg! Reg! Mate! You're wrong on something. I've got the proof.

The passengers go quiet. Les carries on.

Les: You said that Alvin had never talked about any influence from James Dean.

Reg: That's right.

Les: Well ... no, it's not.

All: Ohhhhhh!

Les: I've got this article from 'Blues Matters' magazine. 2004.

Reg: Ah yes - I've seen that.

Les: I thought you might ... but you missed something, then.

Reg: Go on.

Les: In an interview Alvin says that he was a bit of a 'rebel' at school ... and 'I was a fan of James Dean'.

Les waves the article above his head, in triumph.

Reg: Fair enough ... so I was right then

Tony: Eh? How do you work that one out?

Reg: Well, I was obviously right that James Dean was a big influence on the young Alvin. So the use of the 'Dean' surname in the early '60s??

All: Yes ... must have been from James Dean ... can't deny it ... got to be right ... etc.

Reg: Thanks - and we'll be returning to the issue of the surname later. What about the hair, the image? Indeed, the very persona of the young, guitar totin' rebel?

All: Seems very likely ... I see it now ... can't really dispute it ...etc.

Reg: What about the 'crucifixion' poses with the guitar?

All: Certainly interesting ... not entirely convinced ... could be something in it ... possible, rather than probable ... etc.

Pieter: But there is no James Dean influence in the choice of 'Alvin' as a first name, is there?

Reg: Probably not.

Lynn: Just ... 'probably'? Not ...'definitely'?

Reg: Oh, I don't want to bother you guys with it ... it's probably nothing.

All: Well, why don't you run it past us? ... we want to hear it ... let us be the judges ... etc.

Reg: OK, OK ... it could be like this ...

Re: The Magical Hystery Tour - chapter 23.

Mark Farner and GFR. (Thought Toni woulda got that in!)
Still on the tour, Reg. Keep on truckin'
As an aside, CLASSIC ROCK magazine has a great half-page ad for all Alvin's solo albums and highlighting the upcoming release also! Was a welcome shock. Good luck, REPERTOIRE!

Re: The Magical Hystery Tour - chapter 24

oh the twists & turns, I'm getting a feeling of uncertainty and anxiety about the outcome.
Time for a couple xanax and some chronic.
Now I'm in relax mode, carry on Reg.

Peace,
DLM

do I have time to watch this before the next installment?

Re: The Magical Hystery Tour - chapter 23.

Very interesting but Jane and I are wondering why it is not the chapter 24

Re: The Magical Hystery Tour - chapter 23.

Typically Swiss - cool and observant! Good call, Eric and Jane. Has Reg the answer?

Perhaps it's simply Chapter 23, Part 2. No problem. Stranger things have happened on this tour, you must admit!
