Re: The Best of Alvin Lee

Nearly correct Alan, nearly. That photo was used (many times) as a 'teaser' advertising campaign in 1973, for 'Recorded Live'. Reg says 'teaser campaign', as the advert was just that photo, with no other info apart from just the words 'Watch it!'. It was only nearer the date of the release that more info about what was being advertised also appeared.

And in a controversial note Reg could point out that, ironically, if you really did want 'The Best of Alvin Lee' it is 'Recorded Live' that you should be buying.

But he won't.

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee - Magical Hystery Tour

And we will be boarding the bus tomorrow. Reg has completed the seating plan.

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee - Magical Hystery Tour

The best of Alvin Lee is typically his latest release, IMHO. The youtube clips from the recent Raalte consert sort of proves my point there, because I've never heard him play and sing better before. I'm already sure "Still on the road to freedom" will be the best of them all.

Rolling up for the hystery tour..

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee - Magical Hystery Tour

Your "Recorded Live" suggestion isn't all that controversial, Reg - at least in my not very humble at all opinion. Add another disc with some of the newer stuff and there you have it!

By the way, Reg I hope you aren't putting me' at the back of the bus . . .

No. Don't worry. The entire back seat is reserved for Pieter.

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee

Now Reg, that's not your way of saying that TYA was Alvin Lee, is it?

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee

No. It's a belief that that was when they were all at their best. (Certainly live, anyway.) Seasoned, without being stale. Mature performers, although still with the energy of young men still in their twenties. Masters of their craft. At their performing peak. Etc.

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee

If we're discussing TYA, I agree with you, Reg.

Re: The Best of Alvin Lee - Magical Hystery Tour

Thanks, Reg! Ever since the whole Rosa Parks thing, I've had an aversion to the back of the bus . . .
