It's time Toni ,you encouraged us all to start writing letter's to Murray Lerner. Alvin's legacy is important to us all & we(nice of me to speak on behalf of everyone I know!!) want to make a difference to encourage any possible old TYA or any Alvin solo material to be released ,Isle Of Wight or otherwise. Throw a dog a bone. Maybe put Lerner's business address on the website or a link to it??
I know you hate me, I'm sorry.

Re: ISLE OF WIGHT
Hey, Niall! :-) I'm afraid I don't have enough of an idea of the details or premise behind your request to act on it, and some other readers may not either. If I knew, I have forgotten. Could you or could someone give a bit more info? Why would Toni "hate" you over this?? Something, maybe just one little detail, isn't clicking into place for me, sorry!
Poor Niall. He really, really, really wants to see this concert Laurie (as if we don't!), but...
Murray Lerner has expressed his desire to release the entire TYA IOW concert - if he can get permission from all involved, and if he can secure the "considerable financing" (his words) needed to do so. It seems silly to start a campaign to try to convince someone to do something he already wants to do.
Maybe it's time to help the financing along instead....anyone have a spare hundred thousand to get the ball rolling?
Thanks for the interest Laurie, and thanks Toni for debating it once again.
Murrey Lerner has the footage sitting in his office or somewhere and he has said it is really good & he wants to release it. But it needs money behind it. I'm willing to sell all my posessions, (apart from my 1 & only Gibson 335 with added Alvin Lee style pickup) unfortunately that's what is worth the most!
I'm sure Mr Lerner would have a business plan appropriate for a release of something like this , though TYA are difficult because the disbanded such a long time ago even though they had reunions.
As with us all, Lerner isnt getting any younger, He's still working in the business as far as I can tell, so pigs may yet fly...as they say.
The interest in Alvin Lee is still there. But if Murrey Lerner needs to know there is interest in a new TYA product (of an old show) & that it will sell I just thought he needs to hear from us all the time, but not by electronic mail this time , he needs a package to arrive in his office(maybe somebody jump out of a cake? I think a Female would be best!)..as you never know with email if the person recieves it ,&, they dont have to oblige you with a reply. Either that or I'm wrong about all of the above!
PS. Is it possible to embed TYA music files on here or not advised? NOT bootlegs, I have a great ending edit from Fillmore live CD ,I Can't Keep from Crying, its obviuosly a one off alternative funky ending they did on that performance, if it is ok with Toni to put it up here. Or I will send by email if you can put it up for me. Same Year as Isle Of Wight.

Re: ISLE OF WIGHT
Niall, do you have an album titled "The First Great Rock Festivals Of The Seventies"? TYA does I Can't Keep From Crying, from the Isle Of Wight. This version clocks in at 19:13. Alvin starts off by saying "Here's a bit culture, a bit of culture" . I haven't seen it yet on YouTube, but I may have missed it. My copy, pops and all, from 1973, has no edits. If you have a copy, great! If not, it's Columbia, C 30807.
Yes Dave I have the track, I had it on vynal years ago, and some kind person from on here put another copy on cassette for me about 10 years back which I transferred to cd. It's the best version of the song I've heard so far, raw & a different pace to the 'Recorded Live' version. I think I did find an upload of the record on youtube( in not good quality) recently.
