The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

Or at least, one can only hope, heh. The arts & entertainment mag in this morning's *Des Moines Sunday Register* sports a pic on page 37 of what's gotta have been the gig of the century-- nay, even of the millennium: Grand Funk Railroad at Prairie Meadows, a local racetrack & casino. Yup. It fair boggles the mind, doesn't it? I mean, what a gamble for Prairie Meadows! There's Narc Farmer himself in the photo, with his ponytail and gee-tar as ever, only he's actually WEARING A SHIRT. The times they are a-changin'! And to think I somehow missed this momentous gig!! I may never be the same. Boo hoo hoo. Tee hee. :-)

Don't forget, Laurie, he's Narc Farmer - the Rock Patriot!

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

Yes, there comes a time in everyman's life where it's best not never, ever, to wear a shirt in public any more. Reserve such times for the privacy of your own mirror, and mourn times gone by.

If you expose your torso to the unsuspecting public, there comes a time (every few minutes) when you have to breathe out, it's at those moments when reality kicks in..........pull it back over your head, pull it all the way down, and tuck it in.

Now behave yourself, and order another beer.

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

Language is a fascinating subject - for instance, if I had included the word 'not' somewhere towards the end of the first line and the beginning of the second line of my post, I might have actually got close to what I was meaning to say.

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

You mean the meaning of the meaning had meant something closer to what you were meaning to say? Mean language, English..

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

That's right Alan. But the constant tucking in of said shirt and consequent deep breathes and plunging hand is a sign to stop tuckin and buy XXL.

Being 'in denial' is becoming a common thread in recent years, although I would deny I'm in denial.

It's much more fun having a blue face, wild staring eyes and protruding neck veins than simply buy the next collar size up.

And to think Mark never even let ME know...but thanks Laurie! Now, how do I get there??

Easy Tony. Hop over to my place and we can go together. Oh wait, no, that was who playing?

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

Yeah, Tony, bummer that Mark didn't let ANY of us know. Thing is, the Prairie Meadows gig is past and gone. We could always try second star to the right, straight on till morning, but what if, when we get there, Fark Narner & cohorts are about to walk the plank?? Or have gotten kidnapped by the Injuns? Oh, dear. :-)

Hopping across the Big Pond, then to Toni's, then to a GFR gig all the way up in Ioway-- what a mental image that conjures, chortle. Too bad it's all over now, Baby Blue. It's Neverland or bust, gang!! ;-)

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

Uh, Laurie..... Narc Farmer isn't in the band Grand Funk Railroad. They have a guy to play guitar who used to be in Kiss, Bruce Kulick, and a lead singer, and a keyboard player. Kinda ashamed to know that stuff. I feel so.......dirty!!!!!

Re: The Gig to End All Gigs!!!

What the *!@#*% ?? GFR without Narc Farmer?? What's this universe coming to?! And why have we all kept joking about them around here if Fark Marner (no relation to Silas, apparently) is no longer in the (American) band? My poor brain is spinning! Well, not really, but I'm kinda floored. The page 37 color pic of GFR, albeit only a couple of inches tall, in the local Sunday a&e mag, sure LOOKS like Narc. Just got it out and looked at it again, in fact, and it IS Fark. I'd think the mag used a stock shot of the wrong line-up by mistake, but the caption even SAYS it's them-- AT Prairie Meadows! 'Od's bodkins! 'Zounds for days, man! What treacherous trickery or funky flummery is here, good gentles all? Mayhap Kulick is out, and Farner's back in? And do we really care?? ;-)

You mean...GFR is now really (gasp) GFRNot?? To think I've lived to see the day! :-)
