Favorite TYA show: Winterland, San Francisco. Front row, center. My girlfriend was sitting on my shoulders when they came out for an encore and Alvin - the great serial smoocher - leaned over and gave her a kiss.

Favorite Alvin Lee show: San Jose Civic Center. Front row center again. Met Tom Compton in the hotel bar, he introduced us to Alvin as he passed through the lobby.

Don -- Do you remember what year you saw the show at the San Jose Civic Center? I know that I saw Alvin play in San Jose in the early 80's, but I can't quite pin down the details --

Boy this is tough..but I guess have to go with the first TYA show.'68...
Alvin Lee that's EASY...Alvin Lee and Co. at the Orpheum 12th row center..Boston..awesome show, only time I saw Alvin play acoustic..NO TYA songs at all..that band smoked!!

I'm pretty hazy on the date, but I do remember who was on the bill - Alvin, Blackfoot, and Yesterday & Today.

Blackfoot, they were one of the bands that opened for us, or us for them. They had a new album out called "Vertical Smile". Classy, huh? Real big shots, wanted pro treatment all the time.

We did do an Alvin gig in Keokuk, IA, We opened, I got to spend time talking to Alvin, even getting to try to play big red. Action much too high. He seemed amused at a band with no pureblood Indians were using their ethnic heritage as a gimmick.
