And your point!!??nobody is bashing any body DUDE,you really don't understand nor do you have a good ear for Music, and I don't vibrate to much until I hear stuff like this, the point is ! a simple fact that TYAN is trying to use another player to copy ALVINS stuff and it sucks! simple as DAT! stop playin Alvins stuff then thay ani't goona be no vibratin
I have heard good comments, here about TYA,the only time I have said or I have heard any bad vibratin,is when they try and do stuff That Alvin has made famous,I have the same Vibratin goin on for any copy cat Band,
You think Joe Gooch can stand on the same stage with Alvin?? Is that what your sayin??
And Alvin is not there BY his chose not there's,ALVIN choose to move on, why should he be mad,However they use his name to sell albums,Iam not tryin to say anything bad about anyone, but drummers and bass players are a dime a dozen, your front man and the one that carries the vision,is the Key player, and as far as Iam concerned Best of everything to Joe and the Gang, but they would be better off doin Joes Stuff!!
I just listened to Alvin Lee in Tennessee, after TYA he had enough respect to let a legesy stand I haven't heard him play TYA,he didn't replace the members of TYA and continue, why did they?
Yeah Ronnie, drummers and bass players, and even guitarists are a dime a dozen, but REALY good drummers and bass players are hard to find. A GREAT rythm section that knows each others style in and out and have played together for 20 or 30 years is a hard thing to come by. I have no doubt that Alvin could make any rythm section sound good, just like the TYA rythm section would make any decent guitarist sound good.
Thats right it takes,a good band 20-30,of hard work to produce Classic tunes like"Id love to change the World Etc. but it don't take much to copy em!!and although it sounds similar, you can always tell the diff.
Not least because the present TYA are ensuring that it stays alive.
I'm not venting any anger, Chris - you'd have to actually care to be angry, wouldn't you? I have NOT heard a single thing of TYAN's original material and based my comment ONLY on their covers of three of Alvin's songs. They were fine, better than most covers, but they were not even close to being as good as Alvin is at his worst. (I'd Love to Change the World was actually close to awful, in my opinion, and even sounded off key in parts.) Bad karma??? Talk to the guys who lied, disrespected Alvin and his fans and purposely misled people into thinking they'd hear the real thing - and those who continue to make criticism of Alvin's work just to be mean. Bad karma, to me, would be supporting people like that.
By the way, I have never been angry that Alvin is not in the band.Although they did not ask him, I am very sure he would have said no anyway. For many years, I thought TYA held Alvin back, and even with the last reunion, I expressed strong doubts that it was the right move for him. That doesn't mean I don't love the original TYA; it means I believe they were Alvin's past and that playing with them constitutes nothing more than nostalgia. I love Alvin as a "solo" artist, even though sometimes his efforts have been uneven, and I particularly love his newest band and the enthusiasm, energy and fun they bring to his music.
I've heard that argument before, RS, and its not one I understand. When exactly did the music die? Alvin still performs his signature songs live; the original TYA albums are still available...and to be frank, the constantly German touring TYA may be bringing in new listeners, but not on any grand scale and certainly not worldwide.
I would like to add once again that I don't doubt that TYAN are a fine band. They just aren't the same band, and the missing ingredient is the reason I became a fan.
I don't understand what the dispute is ,Tya ric and the gang are top notch for sure, its just the orgi.TYA tunes that Alvin put on top cannot be copied the approval of REAL TYA fans! is that so hard to understand,Joe and the gang needs to make their own mark! And I know they can do it !!They are holding themselves Back!
"They just aren't the same band, and the missing ingredient is the reason I became a fan".
It does'nt get much clearer than that Toni
. I feel pretty much the same way. I'll give the TYA rythm section their dues as musicians, and from the samples I've heard JG is a decent guitarist (although not my bag), but I would'nt actualy pay to go see them without Alvin, as I would definitely pay to see Alvin.
Yes it is repectless from the NTYA to play, Here Me Calling. I woke Up This Morning, Love Like a Man, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl,Love to change the world,Choo Choo Mama, I am Going Home, etc, etc, live, while Alvin Lee still is playing these (Alvin Lee written songs) on stage himself nowadays. Worse it is , to put those Alvin Lee written songs on the NTYA live album. And take credit for them.
But i think the money rules it all with the NTYA.
That is what it makes it so sad, confusion and misleading for the real fans. So silly of them to compete with Alvin ,by using Alvin`s songs. It is like making a copy of a picasso or a Rembrand and take credit for it.
Man Pieter!! thats really gonna start em VIBRATIN!!!!
Yeah, I agree that TYAN performing songs Alvin wrote is in bad taste, especialy since Toni had mentioned TYA did'nt even bother to extend an invitation to Alvin to play with them. I don't have so much of a problem with them doing something like "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", considering that every blues man on earth has done a variation on it already, from John Lee Hooker to Johnny Winter, from Junior Wells to The Yardbirds. But for them to perform "I'd Love To Change The World", and then tout it as "the first time ever played live", like they're doing something special, is just not cool at all. And the sample of it I heard, I have to agree with Toni, sounds out of tune and just, well, cheesy. Nothing like the passion in the original version.
The whole thing that TNYA is still playing Alvin`s songs live and on there records is embarrasing and a shame for such a fine person as Alvin Lee.
Alvin deserve not to be compared with his own songs with the other band.
There IS no comparison!!!
You know, Rob, I continue to be delighted with your posts. You're younger than most of us who gather here, so its great to know who have such cool taste in music. Hooray for older brothers and sisters!!!
Thank you Miss Toni, I feel honored.
