Weird question

Hey all
I need to find an instrumental version of the song Time In A Bottle by Jim Croce ASAP for a funeral. Does anyone have any idea if such a thing exists? I know it is not the kind of music many of you have on hand!LOL! Any help appreciated!
Thanks
Kim

Hello Kim.
Try this http://www.imtrononline.com/ksearch2.asp?artist=Jim+Croce
it is a firm in Texas who sells Karoke songs which are instrumental. i gues you have to search in this direction .

Re: Weird question

Kim,

Love of my life, this is so morbid, I can't help but laugh. Dark humor.

You have several choices that will work and if you want me to help you, I gladly will.

1. Take the song, convert to a .wav file and input it into one of the many, many audio editors around. Then you can do a re-mix and usually by minimizing the mid-range frequencies, it will take most of the voice out. Many home studio types of products do this as well.

2. The other is to see if you can find a midi file on the web. Many people like to use them to play along with or sing with the a song in trying to learn it.

3. ooooooops, I already found a midi version of it. Great. I will send it to you, nothing illegal about this, it is on a public site for use to students.
Get ready for an email and I hope your PC can play midi files. You will receive it in a couple of minutes.

Re: Re: Re: Weird question

Kim,

Whatever ever you want to do.

I have sent you the .midi file, slthough midi is really not a format per say, but some bits and bytes that need to be record to sound like music.

You have the file and if you want, I can record it in a .wav or .mpe format for you. Then you can play with any re-mixing you would want if any. Products like cooledit, and many, many others can do whatever you want with it. But getting it a .wav format would remove any limitation. You can even add the voice track yourself !!

Jon

Let me know.

Re: Weird question

Kim,

I know I have spent many years inside of a bottle myself !!

I just recorded the midi to a real music file, a good quality MP3 file and emailed it to you. I hope your mailbox can handle a 2 MB file.

I would have liked to have sent you a .wav file, but that was going to be 22MB, to much for email.

Buy you can hear it, and if you want to edit it, you can move it to one of the million audio editors, where you will probably have to move it back to a .wav file.

I would strongly recommend that you use some mixing software that allows for several tracks, then speed up "Time in a Bottle" and on a second track, record all of the guitar breaks Alvin laid down in Woodchoppers ball. It would be an interesting combo.

I hope I am not in bad taste, I am sure that you feel a loss from the passing of a friend.

Let me know if you need anything more and if yu have received the two files I sent you, especially the .MP3 file.
