Ms. Powell's Message Boards

Many visitors email me with questions they have about implementing my suggestions.  They often have fantastic ideas of their own that they want to incorporate.  I wanted to provide a place for visitors to share the ways they have tailored my strategies for their own classrooms, and to bounce ideas off one another.

If you have made one of my ideas your own, or have a question about how to do so, please post below!  I am automatically emailed whenever someone posts, so I can respond to any questions you have.  Sometimes people ask questions that I don't have experience with, so if you don't see a reply from me within a few days, that's probably why!  Other teachers will step up and help you out, though.  This can be a great way for us to exchange ideas about classroom management!

Where can I get info or examples of your Book choice response cards? I checked the classroom tour like you suggested.Couldn't find them.

You've given us so many great ideas, I thought I should finally share one! One of my favorite centers that I made when I was teaching kindergarten was the "Lunch Bunch." I enlarged copies of food clip art (pickles, sandwiches, etc.) from Carson Dellosa and cut each into fractional pieces (1/2, 1/3, 1/4,1/6) after laminating them. I then labeled paper bags with fraction labels. I introduced it in a lesson and then stapled the lunch bags to a bulletin board for center time. They loved it! Thanks for all your hard work!

I teach 4th grade and would like to implement centers for the last hour of the day this year. I feel the movement and choice factor would help the kids be more excited about that last hour. Any resources for the upper grades would be GREAT!
