SHRUGGING OFF THE LOSS OF ITS MONUMENT STATUS......
.....todays Test Valley twister began a new era as a midweek semi-classic in ignominious circumstances. With Patrick suffering from raw turkey fever it was left to myself to complete the route as a solo expedition. The 93 miles were covered in 5 hours and 40 mins. at 16.4mph. Described as a rolling parcours, with 4448 ft. of climbing, it would be churlish to describe this once legendary event as flat. The route first takes competitors north to petersfield via Buriton. Then over Stoner Hill to Ropley and Alresford. Then towards Kings Worthy before looping through the test valley via crawley, kings somborne, houghton, east tytherley, lockerley and awbridge before heading into romsey. The route home, source of much controversy over the years takes riders through Lee, nursling, lordswood, swaythling and portswood before picking up the A27 to climb gatorsberg, westendberg, sarisburyberg and home via fareham. This run in being the sticking point in attempts to regain full monument classic status. Organiser Geert van Wuyatt said : "Thees ees a very beautiful event and Pearman should theenk again and geev me back my classeeec status, no? " Richard Pearman was not available for comment . See you all Sunday (unless i get sacked) !!!!

graham, it was with deep regret that i couldn't accompany you on what sounds like an outstanding ride. yesterday any attempt to leave the house with my bike was countered with total lower body cramp. on the mend now though and would like to press you to relaunch your ride at a later date. pat |
