My name is Mike Pugh .
I ran the clone class today #04 .
I really enjoyed the track and the people and the dry humor of Ted .
He is a great Man , And very cordial .
I also talked a bit with Thorton .
I think at the end of the day he might have been the only one that knew that I wasn't cheating and these clones are capable of turning over 6000 rpm's (not every one of them )"Bone Stock" .Although I would not recommend it because after 6000 rpm's the flywheel can turn in to a grenade .
There is one guy I know no matter how much he throws at it it will not turn over 5400 .
But thats ok cause that is where the power is .
If you look at dyno sheets the motor falls off Very rapidly after 5600 .
Today after one guy looked at my tach and saw 6100 he stomped off saying "No Way" so guess what ...I dropped 3 teeth on back and gained a couple of more tenth's .
At my local track there is a group of 3 of us that run nose to tail .All without "cheating" .
With all that being said....
Let me tell you a little about myself .
I have an extensive background in karting .
I also have a set of $1200 scales .( very important )
I've got my kart balanced perfectly .
I work hours on scaleing my kart out right .(Its all in balance and keeping the kart "free")
I also have a new set of tires .
Everyone of you guys was picking up the left rear tire in the decreasing radius left handers at the end of the straights at both ends of the track .
KICK THE RIGHT REAR TIRE OUT TILL IT LOOSENS YOU UP ..
If your picking up that tire your binding the kart .
Also there is nothing in the rulebook that says you cant tune the carb .
If you go to www.nr-racing.com buy a $6 # 85 jet and slip that badboy in and you will pick up tremendously .
(stock jet is 70 )
With all that being said I'll be back in a month or so and I should get smoked by you local guys .
