Where do you live? I seem to remember one on craigs list in the Kansas city area for may be 20 or 30 dollars. HTH Mark

check this auction out - this grille will fit your 77 gremlin. someone on this gremlin x site has a yellow car listed in the rides section with an AMX mesh grille. you would need to purchase the lights which are also found new on ebay

Re: looking for any type of grille to fit a 77 gremlin

Yep, it's a much sturdier piece than the plastic. I think it looks better, too, but then, my original grille was pretty beat up, so anything would look better.
When you're doing this swap, rarely does the AMX grille come with the brackets that are specific to that car for the turn signal lights. It's not a big deal to figure out a way to fit them, just know that it will take some creativity.
The lights are the standard Javelin/Hornet/Matador round turn signals....very plentiful on ebay and elsewhere. Good luck!

Re: looking for any type of grille to fit a 77 gremlin

If you are pretty good fabricator you can easily fabricate a grill for the 77 & 78 Gremlins. This has the advantage of being more durable than plastic and you can get real creative if you want something custom. My wife talked me out of getting overly creative with mine, but I did put more vertical bars and less horizontal bars to give it a lower profile wider look. I made mine from light steel like you can buy at most hardware stores and used the stock park light assemblies. Here are some pictures:

Hopefully this will open in a new window.

Just scroll forward to other pictures for different views.
