Header

Hi guys
I would like to revamp my exhuast system on my '71 gremlin, but I have a stock intake and exhaust manifold. I was wondering if anyone had a used header or even an aluminum intake that would fit on a 232 engine. I don't have alot of cash to go out and buy new, so any leads would be great.
Thanks alot.

Re: Header

I've done two AMC inline sixes with the Clifford intake and dual headers. I bought my first set from a performance parts place long ago and they were not expensive. But lately I see them getting up there in price. I lucked out on the intake I've got on my 77 Gremlin and found it on E-Bay. No one bid on it so I got it cheap. If you are patient sometimes you can get a set of dual headers or a single header off of some place like E-Bay. The Jeep headers/dual headers are reasonable in price at JC Whitney, but Jeep headers usually won't come close to working in a Gremlin unfortunately.

If you get the right carburetor and leave the engine internally stock, it will have remarkable power while getting great mileage. Be advised though, if you have an automatic transmission you'll need to rig up a system for your linkage to the transmission. I built my own, but there is available a kit to do this and it's reasonable in price.

You'll find quite a few AMC six guys around with different experiences on these conversions. Maybe someone else will have something to add to this.
