Years ago.. I had the same problem,, I lowered the rubber snubber to bottom out on the axle before it cut-into the tire sides.. Used a block conformed to the arch of the frame sill it was bolted to. (put a spacer between the frame sill and the rubber snubber) |

you could try putting a sway bar on as well. should help out some. Check out ADDCO. or depending on how you feel about it, you can take a hammer and a dolly and hammer out the wheel well lip a little. Only stuff that really comes to mind right now. |

Shackle extentions will give you the lift you are looking for but will likely also compound any rear sway problem. That said i have shackle extentions and air shocks on my '72 and i dont have a sway problem that i notice. But i am also not running slicks, just larger tires. |

The stock rear suspension will fit a 28X10 slick with no touble at all. sounds like you have worn out leaf springs. Raising it the old skool way with shackles will make for not so stable trap speeds. My car has ESPO heavy Duty 5 leaf springs and comp Engineering 50/50 shocks. Atleast till I get a set of coil overs. |

I've always made my shackles, but any metal shop should be able to crank you out a set. but if you go that route, either tie them together, or but a swaybar on the rear. |

Got my shackles from Pep Boys 6 or so years ago when i still lived in Cali. They are just a univeral set. Looks like Mr. Gasket makes 2 types either 1/2" or 7/16" holes. Item #720-1300 1/2" or #720-1299 7/16" on Jegs.com, or just search for shackle. Hope that helps. |
