Gas Tank Strap Bolts
I just dropped the tank on my gremmy and broke both of the long threaded strap bolts. Is there any place that sells them cheaper than 22 bucks a piece? |

Get total length needed and go to NAPA or O'Rileys (not returnzone) or take it with you,, they should have a set, either too-long or too-short, you can cut off to adapt.. visit the "help" dept.@ O'Rileys too...

It's funny you brought this up. I just dropped my tank today. I was able to keep the bolts though, soaked them for a day and a half with penatrating oil. Worked like a charm. |

You can fabricate something that will work on your own with a threaded rod. You'll have to be good and putting a bend in one end. If you get a piece that will work from the auto parts store that is too long that would be easiest to fix. Just cut off the excess and carefully grind in a taper to the end for the bolts to thread on easily. A good tap and die set would come in handy for this. If the gas tank is very old, this would be a great time to have it reconditioned. Take it to a radiator shop and have it boiled out clean. Doesn't cost that much and makes it real easy to add one of those gas tank coating kits from Eastwood or POR-15 among others. Those usually claim to seal up small pin holes that may develop. Then paint the outside really good. This will give you a tank that will be trouble for for just about forever.
