Rear Leafsprings
Does anybody know where I can buy some new heavy duty rear Leafsprings for a Gremlin? I hit the Grem with a 250 shot of Nitrous 2wks ago and tore up the Right rear spring. Thanks, MPK |

Try http://www.espo.com/ They don't list rear springs but if I remember they used to. Give'em a call and see if they can help. |

Yup That is where I got mine 4 years ago. they hold up against 500 ftlbs of TQ I got the 5 leaf heavy duty springs with poly bushings. I think back then it cost me like $165 with shipping! Davis |

 I also otained a set from ISPO formy 500 cid Caddy engine in the Pacer, using a spool which is a bit rougher on the leafs. They can get/make any leafs for AMC. |

I really appreciate the information.. kinda wierd that they survived the blower motor with 14-15 lbs of boost but first "hit" out of the hole I screwed them up.. I guess it is the differance in a gradual build up of power and the sudden hit? this is a little 355 CI.. cannot wait to get the 408 in it  Thanks again Guys! MPK |

Sounds like your last motor softened the rock. Most Truck shops can tell you where there is a spring shop in your area. they can build what you want. you would be surprized at the cost usually less money when you add in the high freight cost. Dale |

Our local spring shop went out of buisness.. you are most likely correct about the previous motor. |

Cal trac is making nice trick 2 piece racing leaf springs if you have to stay with leafs. Davis |

Glad I could help. That is the setup I would get but no chance of finding a used setup and I am poorer then poor right now. I am working on getting a ladder bar setup. I got 2 sets of ladder bars (new) at a swap meet for 40.00 Missing brackets and spherical rod ends for the front. Local race shop gave me a set of Spherical rod ends. I have a 125.00 credit at the race shop so they just ordered me ladder bar front crossmember and ONE ladder bar rear mounting bracket. I will get scrap 1/4" plate steel ( free) and copy the bracket 3 more times to save another 40.00 I got sliders from ebay for 40.00 . I will have to fab up shock mounts to the sliders. I will be selling the spare set of ladders and hope to recopup some cash and pay off more bills. It sucks being so broke but what fun would it be if I could just bring it to the race car shop and say here ?  Davis |

I have two sets of ladder bars from our other car's but really don't want to cut the floor boards to fit them in.. also we cut out the original front spring mounts and put in a ladder bar cross member and remounted the springs.. I ordered the Cal-Trac brackets and built the rest.. also made the new shock mounts and spring perches.. post some pics when you mount the Ladder bars. Thanks, MPK |
