switching to 727
changing out my 998 for a 727 and will the original linkage and dipstick tube and such transfer over? Anything else i should know. this swap is not my strong point. |

I think the tube and the linkage will be OK, but this is from the top of my head. You will hit a snag with your driveshaft. I culd be wrong, but I beleive the 727 is longer in the tailhousing than the 998. Perhaps others will know more. |

Maybe 4" longer for the 727 - I am about to go from the 727 back to a beefed up 998. the linkage hooks up just fine, just adjust as req. |

IF the tube came from a stock 998 out of a Grm/Hort it will have the contour for the swap. Measure the 727 transm mount- bracket compare to 998. I thought it was different.? The driveshaft will be shorter and need the yoke for the 727. The 727 yoke may not fit on the smaller driveshafts,(could use a comination joint). AMB/MAT shafts have the large U joints to work with the 727. All else, speedo cable & linkage should be OK. |

thx for the help, I'm getting a shift improver kit while the trans. is out of the car. anyone prefer B&M, over the TCI or does it matter? |

I prefer TCI but it really doesn't matter. They do the same thing. For a few bucks extra you could get a manuel valve body and shift it like a manuel tranny. Also you wouldn't need the kick down linkage. Just a thought. Davis |
