Daniel Parsley, hatter

Hello.

A picture of Clare Street on the site states "...The street also had shops particularly hatters such as Daniel Parsley whose family firm had been going for generations...".

How was this information known? Does anyone know anything more about said hatters, or have more photos of Clare Street?

Many thanks,
Paul.

Re: Daniel Parsley, hatter

Paul: Did you get any more information / picture on Daniel Parsley? He died 20 Jun 1890 and his probate is in the Bristol Record Office: gross £1,852 4s 5d. He was living at Grove House, Southwell Street, Kingsdown. Born c1823, London. Father William from Braintree, Essex. Possibly associated with the Parsleys of Winterbourne from c1760. I have a description of the Parsley business dated 1898 when under Daniel's son Henry W, by 1901 a hatter's manager. The business seems by 1901 to have been taken over by a second Daniel Parsley, hat manufacturer. Chris Heal
