As one of the founders of the junior rugby section at Stanford I too am frustrated ar players leaving the club. I agree that some teams are bettersupported than others. We are fortunate that u13s and below seem to have plenty of supporters. What happens when the kids get older....well as they are oldrer , often parents will jst let thm come to rugby on their own...I cant understand it but attitudes definately change as the lads get older.
We have also been the victim of clubs poaching players and unfortunately we will probably continue to have this problem as players are temped to try other clubs.
Perhaps we could try to advertise home and local matches better in the club so senior players will know when matches are.
We have a great club house , super coaches and many players who really want to play so lets keep plugging away and tell as many people we can about our GREAT club. |
