Hi, Hannah,
Like Kathy, I first met Michael when he was still in Cats, in the summer of 1999.
I handed him a letter before the show (gave to the door-man at the stage door), telling him who I am, where I from (California) and most importantly, where I sat. LOL I was sitting on one of the seats on either side of the stage and when he came out, right from the exit/entrance across from me, he acknowleged me by a curtly nod.
During intermission, he sent someone to me, wanted to seat me at the front row. Didn't know what was going on, I refused. (feeling sorry I did that from that moment on) The good guy wanted to do something for me so he asked if
I would like to have back-stage-tour and of course, I said YES. LOL
That happened during the Matinee. I didn't saw him after that show for he was resting inside.
I returned for the 8pm show, sitting at the front, facing the ramp where most of the cats walking down during "Naming of the Cats". When Michael came down, facing me, I wriggled my fingers from my lap and he saw. Like a cat, :-) he turned, looked at my fingers...and looked....and looked...LOL But he hadn't looked at my face until during "Memory" when he was standing behind
Deuteronomy(?), and in the dark, he looked to see my face and recognised me.
This time I got to see him at the stage door after the show and we had a pleasant time meeting each other for the first time.
Met him several times afterwards, by seeing...Swing! in NY.....Singing In The Rain in Wichita....Anything Goes in Seattle.....Smoky Joe's Caft in Sacramento near my home :-) ....Crazy For You in Sofeng....Singing In The Rain again in
Sacramento with one his fans flying from Scotland.....
(sigh) Because of my heart problem, I didn't go out of state to see him anymore but who knows, I might be strong enough to travel some day soon....
one can only hope... :-)
There are stories and there are stories, everyone has her own story to tell. All are so excited and unforgetable. Like some brightly shine hues added to our life and mind, to keep them as fond memories.....
