My great great great great grandfather William Stickland was a smuggler in the Tyneham area. William and his brother Thomas went to jail for 6 months in 1840. I was just wondering, how I would go about getting any records relating to their smuggling days or what they smuggled to go to jail for 6 months for? any information, or anyone who could point me in the right direction i would be very grateful if you could get in touch.
