    There were 9 founding members of Fiat in 1899,(Roberto Biscaretti di Ruffia, Carlo Racca, Emanuele Cacherano di Bricherasio, Michele Ceriano, Giovanni Agnelli, Lodovico Scarfiotti, Alfonso Ferrero di Ventimiglia, Luigi Damevino and Cesare Goria Gatti) but the one who clearly took charge was Giovanni Agnelli. He was elected Managing Director in 1902, became the largest shareholder and since then, the Agnelli Family has had the controlling interest in the company.
